Phil McGrath is Managing Partner for McGrath Family Farm, and all McGrath Farms Trust and Estate L.L.C. entities. McGrath Family Farm is a fourth generation family farm in Southern California, Certified Organic since 1995. The farm provides educational tours and participates in Ag in the Classroom, bringing local produce and informative lessons to local classrooms. McGrath Farm sells to many of the finest restaurants in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. The farm also runs a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program ten months of the year, with a growing number of members. McGrath Farm sells at eight local Farmer’s Markets, and has close relationships with the market managers and other local farms. The farm regularly donates produce and time to various causes and events, including their weekly excess harvest to Food Share.
Phil oversees all aspects of farming and business management, converting the conventional practices of the family farm to organic direct marketing practice in the mid-1990s. Phil has served on many boards including Southland Farmer Market Association, Los Angeles from 1996-2009, Sustainable Agriculture Working Group for California Chapter from 2000-2007, California Farmer’s Market Advisory Committee from 1996-2004, and California State Integrity Task Force for Farmers Markets from 1992-1996. Phil has a B.S. in Agricultural Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.
